Eumundi School of Rock will take local Primary and Junior Secondary kids who love music and give them the chance to learn stagecraft, set up and truly perform. Working together, loving music and playing ‘cool’ stuff in a real band. Playing a real gig, to a real audience, supporting the famous Band of Frequencies, and hosted by renowned Australian singer songwriter musician, and Eumundi's own Katie Noonan.
Katie will reveal the Scholarship Winners for 2016 at Eumundi's School of Rock official launch.
Eumundi School of Rock hopes to boost the amount of students using talented local teachers and are offering a fully mentored program of instruction in a chosen instrument from renowned local musicians Zac Hurren and members of the Band of Frequencies, Shannon Sol Carrol, OJ Newcomb, Jacob Mann and Andrew Szumowski. Incorporating crucial training in performance and stage craft into the lessons. They will form three or four rock bands who will then support The Band of Frequencies at the gig on December 9th at the Eumundi School of Arts.
Young applicants have auditioned for the 24 spots with the song “Are you gonna be my girl?” from Australian band, Jet in the last week of August.
Twenty-four scholarships worth $750 each have been offered for students aged 8 – 13 living in Eumundi, Doonan, North Arm area, or attending one of the local schools.
The Eumundi School of Rock says its mission is to "Positively nurture youth culture, reignite musical roots and provide them with a greater belief in themselves in order to perform in front of their peers."
They also hope that by providing a safe environment for kids and families to enjoy music together they will nurture a more creative community that benefits from living and working in the Sunshine Coast region.
