More Funding for local groups
Council has just endorsed its latest round of community grant funding and I’m pleased to announce several Division 10 groups will receive a funding boost for their projects. These groups include Arts Connect Inc., which is developing monthly open studio trails for artists to share their skills with the public.
Our Community Grants Program is a wonderful opportunity for Council to provide a boost to these groups that do so much in the community. A big thank you to all the hardworking volunteers who give their valuable time, effort and commitment to benefit the Sunshine Coast.
Discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre
It was good to take part in recent opening celebrations for the building extension of the Discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre.
It was officially opened by Senator James McGrath on behalf of the Federal Government, which contributed approximately $165,000 to the project. Council established all-weather vehicular access to the new building and to the existing Museum. Congratulations to all involved in the collaborative effort, and to the Eumundi Historical Association.
Council’s plan for koalas
Did you know koalas contribute $1.1 billion to the Australian tourism industry?

Council has drafted an action plan, funded by the Environment Levy, to guide the management and protection of the Sunshine Coast’s koala population and wants to know what you think. You can read the draft plan online or in libraries and complete a feedback form to have your say. Submissions close at 5pm on 26 June.
So much on offer in our region
I recently drove along Maroochydore’s Bradman Avenue and spotted the sea plane attraction in flight. Have you seen it on your way past? I know this isn’t Division 10 news but I think it’s worth a mention.

Our region has all sorts of events and experiences on offer and it’s great to see another one set up here. Next time you’re in Maroochydore, take a look or give it a go. I was proud to support this particular experience when the business’ permit application came up for debate at a recent council meeting.
